The First Lesson
This work is the culmination of a period of research made in reaction to the poetry of Ted Hughes in the collection Crow, with particular reference to the poem “Crow’s First Lesson”. It is an attempt to share my own experience of reading the poem, the questions that it raises and the feelings it evokes.
The interactive nature of the piece is designed to create a sense of intimacy between the audience and the piece itself, raising questions and opening dialogue around the moment when an audience and an artefact meet.
